DROP IN CLASS DESCRIPTIONS

Below are the current drop in class offerings. These classes are open to all guests and scheduled regularly on a weekly basis. You can pop in to any at anytime! All classes are all levels and no previous knowledge of other classes or specific experience is required. Our class styles are ever changing and we constantly update and adjust our schedule based on fitness innovations, your feedback and popular classes. All classes are fitness focused and strive to provide balanced, whole body workouts, while having a sweet time with new or old friends! 

 
BARRE

Barre classes are inspired by ballet dancers who use a wall mounted bar to strengthen, condition and stretch. Barre classes are an energetic mix of Yoga, Pilates, Fitness and Dance. Set to high energy music you will move, pulse, lengthen and strengthen your entire body. What keeps you coming back to this class is it's signature burn that leaves you feeling buzzed from a killer workout but also taller and more confident from the deep stretches interspersed throughout. Barre is the grace and ease of a dancer with the grit and sweat of a gym workout.

You DO NOT require any dance experience whatsoever!

What to Wear for Barre

  • No shoes or socks required, ballet slippers or socks are highly encouraged (not mandatory). Barre socks are available at the studio to purchase

  • Leggings and/or snug fitting attire is great as legs go up and down and all around and you don't want any surprises

Barre Flex

Our signature and devotedly popular Barre Flex is a dancer inspired, conditioning class with a muscle sizzle twist. Designed for dancers and non dancers alike this class is great for sculpting, conditioning and upbeat for a cardio kick! We incorporate small hand weights and often a pilates ball for a total body blast. This is an all levels class, no dance or ballet experience is required. Expect a very fitness forward, sweaty and functional burn in this peppy class.

Barreless

Nicknamed 'BootyCamp,' expect to build strength, improve cardio and enjoy a musically driven, Barre inspired workout! By taking ballet barre conditioning movements and doing them off the barre you can expect a bold, steady push to slay a well rounded workout! We enjoy sweeping lines, deep core integration and lots of movement repetition to really sweat, burn and isolate small functional muscles. This sneakily soft practice shocks with incredible toning, expression and insanely functional development for core.

Barre Flow

Soulful music challenges your body in a different way as we make expressive shapes and complete graceful combos with sweepy lines throughout this Barre class. By slowing movements down, integrating stretches and holds and enjoying this almost lyrical dance feel, you'll feel insanely conditioned in a fun, and easeful way. Expect to feel taller, invigorated, elegant, and inspired.

The Barre Parties

You'll see a themed class every so often on our schedule! Classes like Beyonce Barre, tribute nights, Christmas Rock, Alivelandia or Beibonce frequently rock the house. These classes are absolutely a hoot! The music and moves will take you to an era or a destination and you'll have so much fun moving & mingling.

YOGA

Aaahhh Yoga the class that everyone knows yet nobody really knows what to expect. Our Yoga classes are accessible and movement focused. We integrate breathing, mindfulness and focus throughout class to keep the energy lifted and the body moving for the majority of the time. Postures are playfully linked and creative formats and structures are our forte. We always make time for deep stretches, body awareness and mindfulness in our Yoga classes

Yin Yoga

This is the most slowed down Yoga class we offer, maximizing relaxation and calming in the body. Long pose holds and gentle transitions allow you to release to a NEW level, whilst experiencing incomparable release and ease.

Yoga Hips and 
Hamstrings

This entire class is dedicated to stretching those hips & hamstrings- two places that most people suffer from serious immobility and tightness! Enjoy this focused physical flow and deep stretch, and also the internal focus of the chakras and energy centres that live in the lower body. You'll learn about these muscles and mindfully move and melt them to leave feeling deeply released and in lower body heaven. 

 

This is an all levels class, paced much like a Slow Yoga Flow.

Yoga Detox

Heat up your inner detox system and digestion. A cleansing practice in a toasty warm room that emphasizes detoxifying postures to promote circulation, digestion, lymphatic boost and energy restoration. Deep twists enhance gut health in this mellow mood class. This is a slow paced flow with a deep hold/Yin finish.

Yoga Sculpt

Fusion at it's finest as we bring weights into Yoga class! Enjoy the length, strength and mindfulness of Yoga complimented with the extra toning, strength and conditioning of adding weights. It's fun & playful, it's sweaty and it's total bliss by the end.

 

This is our 'sweatiest' Yoga class we offer. Best in stretchy clothes and bare feet. Grab a hand towel or yoga mat towel, your mat & water bottle for this class.

Yoga Flow

Breath merges with movements in this all levels flow. Connectedness and a dynamic sense of fluidity are the goal. This moving meditation emphasizes expressive patterns and sequences that feel like there is no stop nor start to your postures. Our Yoga forte here is creative sequencing, interesting pose combinations, smart preparatory actions and prioritizing the movements that feel incredible in 'regular people' bodies. We layer in breath and meditative coaching for a seamless mindbody evolution.

PILATES

Pilates is famous for creating lean, long and strong bodies. With a focus on core based movements and deep abdominal breathing you will experience better posture and a tight, sculpted body. At Alive, we offer mat pilates which is done without equipment so we can focus on precision and functionality of the movements. If your goal is to chisel and sculpt then you better start doing Pilates. Long levers, pulsing actions and fiery breathing ensure you feel ignited after any style of class. Pilates is notorious for giving people six packs!

Total Pilates
Sweat level 2
This is a high energy and dynamic Total Body Pilates class that integrates Fitness with Pilates for an extremely well rounded workout. We sweat to music and sizzle to pulsing, sweeping, crunching movements that give a deep burn. You'll get stronger, longer and more mobile with a focus on BOTH the 'lookin buff muscles' as well as the functional muscles.

 

Lots of options are provided for all levels and all abilities, no Pilates experience is necessary. In true Alive style this class will give you a great fitness fusion workout with peppy tunes and exceptional coaching and demonstrating along the way.

Pilates Renew
Sweat level 2
A fusion Pilates class that provides ample options and layers to each exercise for ultimate self awareness and adjustment in class. This class will focus on movements designed to support your body’s function off the mat. Enjoy thoughtful guidance through exercises and education for self-awareness in class where you feel empowered to push, pull & play just the way your body needs.

SCULPT

Sculpt classes are gritty and sweaty mixed with functional, barefoot long line type movements. We like to call these classes elegantly athletic for their vigorous, high energy nature mixed perfectly with refined movements done in high rep, small weight or body weight fashion. We pride ourselves on offering some of the most functional and posture building movements in the industry. Our Sculpt classes are extraordinarily effective for long, strong, toned bodies - we are the lean 'n mean machine makers.
