SUP Yoga

Stand Up Paddling (SUP) is the fastest growing water sport in Canada.  Have you tried it yet? Paddling offers an amazing water experience suitable for ALL people. The fluid feeling of water on your feet creates an amazing floating sensation that calms the body and eases the mind. The rock and stability challenge of the board adds some extra fun to the paddling journey and the scenery is something you won't see anywhere else. Because SUPing is upright you can gaze deeper into the water and discover things you typically don't see in other paddling sports such as kayaking and surfing.

No experience required.  All levels of fitness are welcome however not recommended for those with major body limitations or previous injuries that greatly limit mobility and/or spinal movement.

All classes run as drop-ins and are limited to participants.

SUP YOGA

This is an amazing floating Yoga experience that you must try!  By using the SUP boards we integrate more core and strength into the class which is a fun challenge for everyone from advanced Yogi's to first timers.  The water is a real treat as we also get to release more tension and stress by utilizing the water for it's calming effects and floating sensation.  This fluid practice will leave you strengthened, challenged and rejuvenated.

WHAT TO EXPECT

SUPing has a surprisingly quick learning curve and caters to a wide range of levels and styles. No matter your water experience or fitness you WILL be able to paddle! All classes teach you the basics of standing up and paddling around- whether you be daring, go fast or mellow out is totally up to you. You will have numerous options and choices throughout your entire class. After 10 seconds of Elvis legs you will be cruising around like you were born on the board!

WHAT TO BRING

Because the water is always a few degrees cooler than land, dress in layers and warmer than you think! You will want to wear something you can get wet in and something that will dry quickly. Board shorts or athletic pants, t-shirts, sunglasses, barefeet and a hat are great options. Bring a towel and a warm change of clothes for afterwards. Remember you might get wet and things like jewelry and sunglasses can fall into the water so leave the pricey stuff at home!

All classes meet at the Ocean River Sports dock

1630 Store St, Victoria, BC V8W 1S5

You'll find the dock right behind Canoe Brewpub, jut north of the water taxi stop. All classes take place in the inner harbour, a short standing, knee and/or belly paddle from the dock. Please arrive a few minutes early to get your sunscreen on and to stow your belongings.
